World Pipe Band Championships
A Scottish pipe band has beaten competition from 13 nations to become the world champions. Inveraray and District Pipe Band were crowned World Pipe Band Champions 2019 in front of thousands of spectators at Glasgow Green. They saw off their nearest rivals, last year's winners, Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band from Northern Ireland.
The World Pipe Band Championships is a pipe band competition held in Glasgow, Scotland. The World Pipe Band Championships as we currently know them have been staged since 1947 although the Grade 1 Pipe Band Competition winners at the annual Cowal Highland Gathering were recognised as World Champions as far back as 1906.
The Pipe Major of this illustrious Pipe Band is Stuart Liddell. This is the second time Stuart has led the band to the winners' position in the Worlds.
